Original Second Life Central Banker Joins MoU as Technical Director
Yet another top-flight hire to celebrate.
We’re lucky enough to have had Peter Phillips - the designer and former manager of Second Life’s virtual currency system - come on board as our Technical Director. While at Linden Lab he managed both currency inputs (i.e., the virtual printing presses) and the LindEx exchange system (Linden dollar <-> US$).
Peter will provide IT management to help us scale our general infrastructure as we continue to grow, but more importantly, he brings truly unique expertise on the management of virtual economies. He was, after all, both the Nelson Aldrich and Alan Greenspan of the largest virtual world economy (we’ll leave the Bernanke analogy to his successor). When he’s not answering my dumb IT questions, he’ll be honing his credentials as one of the world’s foremost experts on virtual currencies and goods trading…a huge asset to our clients, no doubt.
