Does your avatar have what it takes to be a Lingerie Legend?

Published on Friday, July 20th, 2007 by Lauren

me_Select_LoungeAnheuser-Busch, through Millions of Us, is bringing Budweiser Select and Stuff Magazine’s Lingerie Model Search to Second Life. Two out of the ten real life contest events, which are being held at the hottest night spots across the US, will be paralleled and simulcast within Second Life at the Select Lounge on the Style sim.

A panel of three style-savvy Second Life residents, including MJ Garrett from MTV’s The Real World, will choose a finalist from each virtual event. After the second event, visitors to budweiserselect.com will pick the ultimate winner—a Second Life female avatar to receive a two-page spread within the September 2007 issue of Second Style, an online magazine dedicated to high fashion within Second Life.

The two virtual lingerie contests, which will be held next Thursday, July 26th from 7 – 9 PM SLT (PDT) and Thursday, August 9th from 9 PM – 11 PM SLT (PDT) in the Style sim at the Select Lounge, will take place alongside the real life Lingerie Legends events at the Manor nightclub in Chicago and the Tao nightclub in Las Vegas, respectively.

Enter by following the guidelines below. Millions of Us will select up to 25 participants for each event, who will be contacted and granted exclusive access for the rehearsal and event.

What, US time only? And nothing to win except a two-page in that magazine? That’s kinda crazy, sorry. You know that creating a really good looking avatar is hard work and not inexpensive… I think some of you people out there have never seen the reality of a virtual life…

this contest seems a wee bit late in being announced. the real world contests have been going on for a month or more. when are we going to have the real world marketeers spin the buzz inworld to whip us in to a salivating frenzy of product buying bots. just like in real life.

btw, the same company that has developed the system to verify logins to the busch/bud/maxim site is the very same company that will be providing “age verification” for linden lab. joe smith from kansas seems to be a usable ID for their system as it is presently configured. would this event inworld carry a “mature” check?

viewing the videos of the real life “contests” sure smacks more of a strip club atmosphere than one condusive to mixed company. in other words, not suitable for at work monitors. what kind of a reputation are we building with this sort of soft porn.
