First Israel.  Then Denmark.  A few weeks ago, Australia.  Today,  Mayor Newsom along with Governor Schwartznegger and the Mayors of San Jose and Oakland, announced that they would be making a major move towards bringing electric vehicles and the Better Place network to the Bay Area.

Better Place: California Joins the Network

Better Place is a Palo Alto based startup committed to creating an all electrical vehicle grid.  They’ve recently become a MoU client (and they’re fantastic).  They’ve been signing up countries — so far Israel, Denmark and today, Australia have come on board.  Below is a video giving an overview of the concept from a year ago and below that, a Seesmic discussion started today asking, “How can we get more countries and local governments to sign on for the investment, job creation  and energy independence of Better Place?”
