Looking Back to December 2006: Roadcast with Mark Wallace

Friday, July 18th, 2008

I started a tradition back then, when we were 6 months old.  I used to record a call with someone interesting for the length of my drive to work.  This one with Mark Wallace, which dove into Taxation of Virtual Transactions and Second Life’s population and economics, was awesome. BTW, back then Mark was writing the blog 3Pointd.com .  He’s now the CEO of a very ambitious and cool company releasing something revolutionary soon.

I ended up only doing 7 of these Roadcasts.  Here they are.

Roadcast #5: Eric Rice and I Discuss Clay Shirky and the SL #’s Debate

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

This was the first Reverse Roadcast, done on my way home. Got Eric Rice, aka Spin Martin, on the phone to break down the recent debate over Second Life’s explosive growth.

Roadcast #4: Brian Clark of GMD Studios

Monday, December 11th, 2006

On Friday, Mike Monello of Campfire recommended that I talk with Brian Clark of GMD Studios. These guys have been at the social media game n the web since the early days and are doing some really interesting work for Ford and others. He is also the president of Indie Media Wire.

Roadcast #3: Mike Monello of Campfire Media

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Today I talked with Mike Monello. Mike is a partner in Campfire Media: the company we’re working with on the Motoratilife Project for Pontiac. Their campaigns, which break almost all the rules of conventional advertising (campaigns such as the Art of the Heist for Audi and Beta 7 for Sega), descend from a theory of social media dating back to their days making the Blair Witch Project. What’s interesting is that many of the production values and marketing techniques associated with Blair Witch are coming into the spotlight these days as marketers attempt to enter the dialogue in the Second Life/Youtube era.
